May 4, 2017, Sorel-Tracy, Que. - A body was found in the remains of a two-unit residence that caught fire early Wednesday in Sorel-Tracy.

The condition of the body is such that it’s unclear whether the victim is man or a woman. Firefighters were called to the duplex on Augusta St. near the city’s riverfront about 2:45 a.m.

After bringing the fire under control three hours later, the body was discovered in the building’s interior. It appears the other unit in the building was unoccupied when the fire broke out.

Investigators from the Sorel-Tracy fire department and the Sûreté du Québec are trying to determine the cause of the fire as well as the identity of the victim.
