Features Blogs Editor’s blog

Hello! I’m assistant editor Maria Church. Let me welcome you to our brand-new website, the new home of Canadian Firefighter magazine.

First, a little background about the magazine. Canadian Firefighter is published by Annex Business Media four times a year – January, April, July and October. Features and columns from the magazine were previously found on the website for our sister publication, Fire Fighting in Canada. Other magazine content including news, events, subscriptions, and links were found on Firehall.com, our forum-based website for firefighters, training officers and job-seeking firefighting students.

Last year we unveiled a new look for Canadian Firefighter and it naturally followed that our fresh design needed its own home online.

Welcome to cdnfirefighter.com. This website is your online access to the fantastic people who write about issues relating to career and volunteer firefighters, from health and wellness, to hands-on training, to leadership skills.

You will find all of your favourite Canadian Firefighter columns – From the floor by Jay Shaw, Dispatches by Jennifer Grigg, Between Alarms by Arjuna George, Tim-bits by Tim Llewellyn, Extrication Tips by Randy Schmitz, Fit for duty by Sherry Dean, Recipe Rescue by Patrick Mathieu – and new columnists – health expert Sean Kingswell and newly promoted Capt. Jason Clark. We will regularly highlight the magazine’s in-depth feature stories, which cover recruitment, health and safety, incident reports, technologies and much more.

We hope you’ll take some time to become familiar with the new website and what it can do for you (bookmark us!). Find links at the top of the page to becomingafirefighter.com – our website for fire-service job seekers – firefightingincanada.com and FirehallBookstore.com

The Firehall.com forum is getting a makeover too, but will remain the same essential hub for the Canadian fire service, boasting thousands of users and dozens of posts each day.

Sign up for our Canadian Firefighter enews to receive weekly email wrap ups of what’s making headlines in the Canadian fire service.

Our Facebook page, too, has been updated to reflect our new website. And continue to keep in touch with editor Laura King and me on Twitter @FireinCanada

Now we want to hear from you. Send me your thoughts, questions or concerns about the new website at mchurch@annexweb.com

Happy browsing!
