Fighting Island marsh fire damages 250-300 acres

April 15, 2019, LaSalle, Ont. - Despite some “anxious moments” when flames threatened a dog kennel area, the raging marsh fire on Fighting Island was subdued Saturday night with no injuries to people or pets. Firefighters were able to save all structures on the island, LaSalle Fire Chief Dave Sutton told reporters at a Sunday morning news conference, held to provide details on the “spectacular” fire that was very visible to thousands of LaSalle residents.
