Sept. 18, 2017, Rougemont, Que. - A violent fire has destroyed a store and warehouse at the orchard operated by the Notre-Dame de Nazareth Abbey in Rougemont in the Montéregie.
The fire was continuing to burn at 5 a.m. Monday and while the cause has yet to be determined, the blaze seems to have been accidental in origin.
The abbey was founded in 1932. Its orchard contains tens of thousand of apple trees and about 3,000 pear trees.
No injuries were reported.
