Forest fire risk may increase due to warm summer weather

April 17, 2017, Edmonton - Nearly a year after the Fort McMurray wildfire, a climate scientist says there may be more forest fires to come this summer in Canada. University of Alberta meteorologist and professor, Mike Flannigan, says that there is an average 7000 forest fires annually in Canada, but that this number can vary drastically depending on weather.
