Mar. 29, 2019, Montreal - An early morning fire tore through a building in Griffintown Friday, and by the start of the morning rush hour 80 firefighters remained on the scene battling a blaze that broke out at 4 a.m.

By 6 a.m., a third alarm was called in for the fire in an apparently vacant building on Young St. near Wellington St., and one firefighter was reported slightly injured as efforts continued to try and keep the flames from spreading to adjacent buildings.

As the rush hour began, Montreal police were warning motorists to avoid the intersection of Peel and Wellington Sts. because of the presence of numerous fire department vehicles.
