Montreal, union clash over fire service cuts

Mar. 3, 2017, Montreal - The Montreal fire department says it’s providing an acceptable level of service despite budget cuts over the past three years. The department, which has been without a permanent director since François Massé resigned in September, was responding to a call by the firefighters’ union on Thursday for Quebec public-safety minister Martin Coiteux to investigate the latest cuts to the fire department budget.
