July 13, 2020 — Incident Management Technology released the commercial version of its PAMS firefighter accountability software. PAMS is cloud-based and designed to provide simple and effective solutions to firefighter accountability and tracking incident response.

PAMS gives departments better personnel awareness and solves the problem of trying to figure out who is where, says Justin Brundage, president and co-founder of Incident Management Technology. Brundage says he was driven to solve the challenges of staff management through his experiences as deputy fire chief for Berwyn Fire Company in Pennsylvania. With PAMS, the department can immediately know what their response capabilities are at any given time. The web application provides a snapshot of high-level data, and knowing exactly who is responding and where can help FDs assign firefighters based on individual strengths, he adds. The software also provides auxiliary information such as the location of hydrants relative to an incident.

PAMS software operates with particular attention to user friendly details such as being intuitive to typical operational workflows. PAMS workflow is similar to other tag-based accountability systems with a process already familiar to most departments, but was created to provide greater detail than traditional tag systems.

PAMS software has been in beta release since 2019 and was tested during thousands of emergency responses in this beta phase. The use of cloud software and connected devices in the accountability process means all personnel response information is updated instantly and can be seen by the whole department in real-time. This snapshot of tangible aspects improves response effectiveness and increases the safety of firefighters.
