April 20, 2023, Yukon – The Government of Yukon is launching a new online Wildfire Hub which aims to make it easier to find information about the Yukon’s wildfire situation as well as potential impacts to residents and travellers.
The hub is a series of online tools addressing common questions about wildfires across the Yukon. The hub provides an overall picture of the fire situation, as well as details about specific issues like smoke sources, highway delays and active fires within a given area.
The wildfire hub also provides context about how the government manages fires to maintain public safety near communities while preserving the natural role that fire plays in wilderness areas of the boreal forest.
