May 2, 2023, London – Otego, a company that makes coated and laminated technical textiles, has announced the launch of its Fireshield Poncho.
The poncho is made from a lightweight fibreglass coated in aluminized aramid and the company’s Fireshield technology. It can also be clipped onto belts.
The company said in a press release that the poncho’s aluminized layer is ranked C4 and provides additional protection beyond the firefighter’s protective suit.
The poncho is not designed for prolonged exposure to direct flame, but it has the capability to protect the wearer from intense radiant heat while maintaining mobility.
