Town of Amherstburg selects next fire chief

July 3, 2024, Amherstburg, Ont. — The town of Amherstburg in Ontario has appointed Michael Mio as their new fire chief and community emergency management coordinator designate.

Mio has been a member of Windsor Fire and Rescue Services since 1994, advancing through the ranks to assistant chief.

He is succeeding Chief Bruce Montone, who assumed the role in 2017 after serving as fire chief for Windsor Fire and Rescue Services for almost seven years and acting as deputy chief for Ottawa Fire Services for nine years.

Mio will begin his duties on September 16.
