Aug. 10, 2016, Prince Albert, Sask. - Provincial government water bombers were called in to back up firefighters who battled for several hours to stop a massive barn fire at a large central Saskatchewan poultry farm.

The building at Harman Poultry was engulfed in flame when crews arrived at the scene, north of Prince Albert, yesterday afternoon.

Two dozen firefighters and six trucks from the city and local municipality were called out.

Three additional tanker trucks were brought in and the water bombers dropped fire retardant to help snuff out the flames.

There’s no immediate word on the number of hens lost or the extent of the damage.

Harman Poultry produces eggs that are shipped across Canada.
