May 17, 2023, Williams Lake, B.C. – The Williams Lake Fire Department introduced its 2023 paid on-call firefighter recruitment class at its regular meeting on Tuesday.
Fire Chief and Director of Protective Services Evan Dean told council recruits are currently undertaking required training before becoming fully certified.

Dean also recognized several firefighters with long service awards for their excellence and dedication on behalf of the city and council.
New recruits introduced to the community were: Quinton Boyce, Jessica Friesen, Kait Houley, Dino Lecomte, Eswar Mangala, Cody Nunn, Jordan Siemens and Jessica Sutherland.
Five-year service awards were presented to Braden Fournier, Cory Holm, Brad Tomelin, Jacob Weigensberg and Kristopher Wilk. Steven Doherty was recognized with 10 years of service, Lt. Trevor Stockdale received a 15-year service award and Dereck Sulentich was the recipient of a 30-year service award.
