May 17, 2023, Williams Lake, B.C. – The Williams Lake Fire Department introduced its 2023 paid on-call firefighter recruitment class at its regular meeting on Tuesday.

Fire Chief and Director of Protective Services Evan Dean told council recruits are currently undertaking required training before becoming fully certified.

“The most common thing we hear from our recruits is they want to give back to the community,” Dean said. “It’s a huge commitment and something we don’t take lightly.”

Dean also recognized several firefighters with long service awards for their excellence and dedication on behalf of the city and council.
