Aug. 7, 2025, Almaguin, Ont. — A fire truck ended up in the ditch in what police describe as a single vehicle collision.

On July 28, at approximately 6:30 p.m., Almaguin OPP said officers responded to a single vehicle collision involve a fire truck in Goreville Road in Laurier Township.

According to a Facebook post from the Ontario OPP North East Division, a 52-year-old person from South River has been charged with careless driving and driving the fire truck without an airbrake endorsement.

The driver was also issued a three-day suspension after registering a blood alcohol level in the warning range.

three-day suspension can be issued if a driver’s blood alcohol concentration (BAC) registers within the warn range of 0.05 to 0.079 mg per 100 ml of blood or if the driver fails a standard field sobriety test.

According to police there were no injuries.

Police did not identify the fire department the truck belonged to.

Almaguin News has confirmed it was not a truck from the South River – Machar Fire Department and has reached out to Laurier’s fire department for comment but did not hear back by time of publication.  Almaguin News has requested comment from the Laurier Local Services Board.
