Grant to enhance Pelham firefighters’ safety

Jan. 13, 2024, Pelham, Ont. – It used to be cool to have a little bit of grime on a firefighter’s gear, but Pelham’s Fire Chief said that isn’t the case anymore. As knowledge has evolved about the risks related to protective clothing picking up a range of highly toxic contaminants, Chief Bob Lymburner said it’s important that firefighters wash their protective clothing to remove the carcinogens that remain on it after fighting a blaze.
