New Fire & Rescue Services Chief announced

Department News News BC canadian firefighter fire chief fire departmentApr. 9, 2024, North Vancouver, B.C. – Mike Danks has been appointed as the new Chief of District of North Van Fire & Rescue Services. Chief Danks had served as Deputy Fire Chief, overseeing emergency operations with the District of North Vancouver Fire and Rescue Services (DNVFRS) since June 2023.
“I’m proud to be a part of such a cohesive group of firefighters on the District Fire and Rescue Services team,” says Danks. “I look forward to serving the community that I live and play in.”
During his firefighting career, Danks has held progressively senior roles in Fire and Rescue Services with City of North Vancouver, being named assistant fire chief in 2020. Danks has volunteered with North Shore Rescue since 1996, serving in various leadership roles.
Danks has completed his search and rescue management certificate and search and rescue leadership certificate. Currently, through the Justice Institute, he is completing Fire Officer IV while working through the Fire Executive Management Certificate with BCIT.
“For decades, Chief Danks has demonstrated excellence and leadership in emergency response for our community,” says District of North Vancouver Mayor Mike Little. “I am very confident he will continue to provide excellent leadership for our fire services going forward.”
