City of Stratford appoints new Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief

Sep. 26, 2023, Stratford, Ont. – The City of Stratford has appointed Neil Anderson as the new Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief, effective today.

Mr. Anderson has served as Stratford’s Deputy Fire Chief since March 2017, and during that time has also been the City’s Community Emergency Management Co-ordinator (CEMC). He has been Acting Fire Chief since July 2023.

Prior to that, he served in the Canadian Forces for nearly 30 years in a variety of fire service roles, including Fire Chief at Canadian Forces Base Comox.

As Director of Emergency Services/Fire Chief, Mr. Anderson will oversee the day-to-day operations of the City’s fire resources and will be the Director responsible for the Stratford Municipal Airport.

“Neil has been a tremendous asset to the City as Deputy Fire Chief and CEMC, and he will be a welcome addition to our Corporate Leadership Team,” said City of Stratford Chief Administrative Officer Joan Thomson. “The safety of our citizens is our most important priority, and we are fortunate to have Neil in this critical leadership role.”
