Fire and Emergency Services recognizes over 70 volunteer firefighters at awards ceremony

Mar. 19, 2024, Trenton, Ont. – On Saturday, Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services (QWFES) acknowledged the commitment and service of over 70 volunteer firefighters at an awards ceremony at the Batawa Community Centre.

The QWFES Volunteer Firefighter Awards Ceremony was held to recognize the contributions of the City’s volunteer firefighters and express gratitude to the firefighters’ families for their ongoing support. Each firefighter was presented with a certificate of appreciation and was acknowledged for their time with the service.

“The City of Quinte West is grateful for the invaluable contributions of our volunteer firefighters,” said John Whalen, Fire Chief for Quinte West Fire and Emergency Services. “Their commitment is essential in keeping the Quinte West community safe and this ceremony serves as a token of our appreciation.”

Volunteer firefighters play an important role in ensuring the safety and well-being of the community. Career and volunteer firefighters risk their lives to protect others and work hard to keep the community informed and safe.
