Five alarm fire destroys Anjou building

By CTV News

Headlines News

A plastic manufacturing plant located in Montreal suburb, Anjou was destroyed in a five-alarm fire early Tuesday morning.

Fire services responded to a 4 a.m. call to the building, which was recently aquired by Montreal company, Faspac Plastiks. The company was in the process of moving equipment into the space. Ten employees were working overnight at the time of the fire, but only one was injured.

Environment Quebec sent a mobile laboratory to the area to make sure the air is safe to breathe, and that dangerous chemicals were not produced when the plastics and other materials in the factory caught fire.

The cause of the fire is not yet known, but firefighters believe it began in an area where solvents were stored. CTV News reports. | READ MORE
